St Louis Star is an online newspaper serving St Louis, Missouri.

The masthead has a long and colorful history, first appearing in 1896.

The newspaper’s name changed to the Star-Chronicle in 1905, but changed back to St Louis Star in 1908.

In 1913, it became the New St. Louis Star, but a year later reverted to the original name.

In 1932 the St Louis Star took over the competing St Louis Times, and so was born the St Louis-Star Times which was published until 1951 when its rival Post-Dispatch bought it and closed it down.

Today's online version of St Louis Star carries on the tradition of its predecessors placing as its first priority the coverage of local St Louis news.

St Louis, on the western bank of the Mississippi River, and bordering with Illinois, is part of the Greater St Louis Metropolitan Area which actually includes parts of Illinois.
