The problematic statistics of traffic stops gone fatal may soon be positively impacted by the Williams' Window Wallet, a new device launched on Kickstarter, at http://kck.st/2IHhMbV. A plastic sleeve that neatly works as a window display in every way similar to a window wallet, this device allows drivers to easily and transparently show their driver's license to law enforcement agents when traffic stops occur.
It's been widely reported in the media about the wide range of routine traffic stops that end up escalating into the use of deadly force against unarmed civilians. Responsible citizens reaching into their jackets or glove compartments for their driver's license or registration are often misinterpreted as making "threatening gestures" that could potentially lead law enforcement officers to react with deadly force at times.
"By allowing the driver to keep her documents right there, on the car's window, and to show them to a police officer in a perfectly transparent way, the Williams' Window Wallet may save more lives and prevent more serious injuries than anyone can imagine," stated Brian Williams, the creator of the device.
"Contrary to what some people may believe, this is not a politicized campaign and we're not taking sides pro or against civilians or police officers. This is simply a simple, smart and straightforward solution for a complex problem that every year translates into many lives needlessly and unfairly loss," Mr. Williams said.
The patent-pending device is intended to prevent a dangerous escalation and serious consequences that traffic stops may cause. "Drivers will be safer because they won't need to run the risk of making any movement that officers could potentially consider suspicious. Officers will also be safer because they won't be charged with using excessive force without needing to do so and they will feel safer by having access to a driver's documents without any suspicious movements being perceived as menacing," Williams further stated.
The William's Window Wallet campaign on Kickstarter at http://kck.st/2IHhMbV is seeking to raise $10,000 for the large-scale manufacturing of the device. Kickstarter backers will have early and discounted access to the window display in exchange for their support to the campaign.
